Restoration

Restoration of Photographs is a world in itself… Please do not get confused with a simple copy of a photograph. Restoration is where the imagination of the restorer is at work trying to determine what tonality suits the photograph.

Elimination of scratches, dark spot marks of… guess what… old age where humidity sets into the emulsion of the photograph and alters the chemical composition of the same. Photographs brought in from warmer humid climates where mildew finds good food and co-operation.

Then there are the photographs of our loved ones that we neglect to treat well and carry in our wallet… well those are some of the ones that suffer the most; small cracks, bends, you name it.

Another type of photograph we like to restore are the original photographs that somehow could not be washed properly and the photo likes to show that yes I am made of silver! Therefore there is a silver cast on them.

What about the faded color photographs? Nothing will bring them back to life, but we will revive them. For all these problems and more we have an excellent restorer second to none: a member of our family that knows a lot about original photographs with problems.
